Experience
Raul Romero has rendered services in the labor and social security areas since 1992. He represents national and foreign employers in three basic areas: advisory, litigation, and social security. His services include rendering advisory opinions, developing and implementing labor law strategies and policies, and creating due diligence reports.
Raul handles individual and collective cases before the Mexican local and federal Conciliation and Arbitration Boards, administrative proceedings and grievance proceedings before the Workers’ Protection Agency (Procuraduría de la Defensa del Trabajo), and the Federal Fiscal and Administrative Court (Tribunal Federal de Justicia Fiscal y Administrativa). He has experience negotiating collective bargaining agreements and labor restricting processes, as well as employee transfers and settlement of all amounts owed to employees upon termination of employment, including the employees’ mandatory severance pay.
Raul has served clients in the following industries: finance, education, music, manufacturing, services, and automotive, among others. In 1996, Raul served as Adjunct Professor at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, where he taught Individual Labor Law.
Raul received his law degree from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City and has several post-graduate studies in labor law, amparo, and Mexican financial law. In 1999, Raul participated in the National Award for Labor Investigation (Premio Nacional de Investigación Laboral), a contest organized by the Department of Labor and Social Welfare for participating dissertations on labor-related matters. Before stating his private practice in 1994, Raul worked for UNAM’s Institute for the Research of Law (Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas).
